CALL FOR PAPERS (max. 500 words)

The first congress of the GESC proposes a reflection on the analytical categories developed in the field of the semiotics of culture. The aim is to consider the relevance of this line of research by reflecting on the concepts that historically articulated the discipline: semiosphere, explosion, intersemiotic translation, lifestyles and forms of life, the relationship between memory and culture, etc.

With this in mind we ask to propose an analysis with heuristic tools belonging to the field of this tradition of studies, to tailor them methodologically and to measure their capacity of explanation.

On the other hand, we are going to reflect on the role of the semiotics of culture, its connections between the different semiotic schools and its hypothetical function as a bridge or as a translator in relation to other approaches to the study of culture such as sociology and anthropology.
In this way we will consider both analytical proposals and strictly theoretical ones.
